Product Review: Apple iPod Touch

I recently purchased an Apple iPod Touch for my husbands birthday. We were blown away on all of its capabilities. It comes in different sizes 8 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. I went with the 32 GB because I know my hubby and he likes to download a lot of things on his iPod. I got him the newest model which is the 3rd Generation.

The iPod has the following features and capabilities:

*Up to 30 hours of music playback or 6 hours of video playback when fully charged
*3.5-inch widescreen Multi-Touch display with 480 x 320 pixel resolution
*32 GB capacity for 7,000 songs, 40,000 photos, or 40 hours of video
*Supports AAC, Protected AAC, MP3, MP3 VBR, Audible, Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV audio formats; H.264 and MPEG-4 video formats; JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF

The iPod touch comes with the Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic. I highly recommend getting the 32 GB or higher due to space issues. Its a minimum of 2 GB's usually to download a movie. Amazon has the best price right now $269.99 and Free Shipping! Check it out here.

Product Review: Bjorn Baby Carrier

When I was pregnant with my little boy I knew I had to get a Bjorn Baby Carrier. After all, I have twin 3 year old girls and they were a handful.  Being my frugal self I started off with some less expensive brands and they didn't work for me. I was having a breakdown about paying $80 for the carrier but I knew I needed it.

My son basically lived in the carrier because we were always on the go. One of the major problems, I had with the other carriers was back support. This was all around perfect. It kept the baby close and I was still able to use my hands, It had wide, padded shoulder straps that distributed the weight evenly for comfortable carrying and it was easy to buckle.

Amazon carries this brand and right now they have it marked down to $56.50 ($79.99 orig) with Free shipping. Click here to check it out.

Book Review: Potluck Survival Guide

Photobucket

By

Cherie Kimmons

     What's this book about?

"Potluck Survival Guide, a light-hearted handbook for beginning and experienced cooks, helps frazzled parents, volunteers, event chairs and novice hosts feed the masses while keeping their sanity. Author Cherie Kimmons, who has spent years in the cooking trenches, helps readers prepare all-time potluck favorites for school, athletic, scouting, band, social and church events. Featuring kid-tested and approved recipes (with modifications for adult palates), the guide includes a unique section of in-depth recipes that serve as a starting point for endless variations. It also explores considerations for feeding young children and athletes, buffet strategies, decorating tips and fun menu ideas."

I was so excited when Five Star Publications sent me this book to review. I have so much trouble figuring out my weekly meals. This is a great addition to my collection of recipes.

The Potluck Survival Guide is a great resource for feeding large groups of people. I always have trouble figuring out how much to serve and I have had times that I run short on servings. My favorite part of this book is "the food bar" options. The author gives suggestions for several different food bars and how the presentation should be. My favorite food bar is the sundae bar.

I highly recommend this book to anyone. It has a lot of great recipes, ideas and tips. The book itself is good quality and is over 150 pages. You can purchase the The Potluck Survival Guide from Five Star Publications for $18.96, regularly $24.95. This would make a great gift!

Book Review: Wright on Time

By

Lisa M. Cottrell-Bentley

They prove that learning can happen all the time, anywhere, and that being with family is fun! Meet Aidan, age 7: Boisterous and joking all the time, this sporty boy knows how to have fun! Meet Nadia, age 11: Curious and fiery, this intellectual girl can always find out answers to even the most difficult questions. Meet their parents: Harrison, a writer and linguist expert, and Stephanie, a telecommuting computer expert; ready to adventure with their children. Meet Prince Pumpkin III, turtle extraordinaire: This 50 year old little guy is holding on tight, as the family RV and a mysterious device take him on an adventure no turtle has ever gone on before. Explore an Arizona desert cave with the Wrights as they begin their trip. What will Aidan and Nadia discover? This series is Wright on Time.

My Thoughts:

This is a really cute book. It is recommended for ages 5 - 12 +. When I first received it I was kind of shocked by the 5 year old thing. My girls will be 5 in a month and there is no way they could sit down and read this book. They are beginning to read but this is a little more advanced for their age. I did some research on Amazon and the recommended reading age is 9+. I would say that is more realistic. This book retails for $12.99 and has a really cute story line.

My girls really love the adventure in this book. You can see it right on the cover that it will be a fun journey. The size of the book is perfect size for little hands and the animation is adorable. This is the first book in a series and I can't wait to receive the next one.

Product Review: The Ultimate Cloth

The Ultimate Cloth is eco-friendly solution for homes as well as a money and time saver. The Ultimate Cloth is a brand new technology – in fact, it is the only cloth to receive a new patent in the last 25 years.  The Ultimate Cloth is a simple, green and effective one-step cleaning process.  The Ultimate Cloth cleans any hard surface – glass, wood, granite, stainless steel and many more – with just water!  No longer do you have to use harsh chemicals in your home, nor do you need spend hundreds of dollars per year buying them.  The Ultimate Cloth has been lab tested to remove 96% of bacteria, without the use of chemicals.  And, can cut 50% off your cleaning time.  The Ultimate Cloth is truly the ultimate in green cleaning.

I was so excited when I received The Ultimate Cloth in the mail. I didn't realize it cleaned so many surfaces. My first reaction was there is no way this can clean all these surfaces and also be streak free. Well, I have to say I was proven wrong. I have stainless steel appliances that are such a hassle to clean, I have to buy this special cleaner for them. Not anymore! This cloth cleaned better than my special cleaner and took me less time to clean.

I was so impressed that I decided to use it on my daughters wardrobe mirrors. It cleaned them right up with no problem. It looks like this is my new cleaning buddy. The best part of all is I don't have to store cleaners under my sink in the kitchen. I always worry about the kids getting into them, even though they have child locks. This is a great investment for $6!

Do you want to receive a FREE Ultimate Cloth?

All you need to do is follow Ultimate Cloth America on Twitter or become a fan on facebook.  Facebook and Twitter will provide the necessary information for receiving your Ultimate Cloth.

Book Review: The Story of Christmas

Photobucket The Story of Christmas  by Gwen Ellis
Illustrated by Steve Smallman
Ages: 4-7
Put out by:   Thomas Nelson
Price:  $10.99

***Disclosure:  Mama Buzz and reviewers, received a complimentary copy of this book for review purposes.

"Based on the International Children’s Bible, this book begins with the birth of John the Baptist. Next comes the angel appearing first to Mary, then to Joseph, the trip to Bethlehem, the birth of Jesus, the angel’s announcement to the shepherds, the wise men and their gifts, fleeing to Egypt, and at last heading home to Nazareth. The “Can You Retell the Story” activity at the end of the book is a fun way for children to learn to tell the story themselves."

When my children and I sat down to read The Story of Christmas it was everything I hoped it would be. The book starts off with events leading up to Jesus' birth.  It has actual scripture with illustration of each scene. It also comes with a DVD that shares stories from Jesus' life. I can't express how much I love this book. It is so important for our children to know why we celebrate Christmas.

My husband and I just recently let our 4 year old girls know that Santa is not real. They don't believe us but we keep telling them. I explain that it's Jesus' birthday and he gives us gifts for his birthday. This book does an excellent job teaching the children the true purpose of Christmas. It is a hard back book with beautiful colors. I recommend everyone purchases this book, it is more than worth the price and can really help some children out there. God Bless!

Book Review: Girl Talk

Girl Talk

Celebrities and Other Extraordinary Women Share Their Secrets
By Gigi Garner

Girl Talk is a soft back cover and is geared toward women. At 148 pages long, you can get Girl Talk for $15.95.

What is this book about?

"Women are compassionate listeners, knowing intuitively when to offer advice or merely a hug and a shoulder to lean on. Author Gigi Garner has captured dozens of these intimate moments between women in her new book Girl Talk. Contributors include such stars as Naomi Judd, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Shari Belafonte, as well as other women with a wide variety of careers and perspectives. Girl Talk offers the feminine perspective and tips on beauty, health, fashion, careers, relationships, and more"

I was given the opportunity to review this book not knowing what it was about. It contains both useful and entertaining information but is not the kind of book I prefer to read. I know many women who would be very interested in it. It is not actually a sit down book it is more of a "on the go type book". The advice in this book is not offered from a biblical perspective which doesn't really capture my interest.

Book Review: Rattlesnake Rules

I'm excited to share with you a great book that Five Star Publications sent me to review. It is a book about rattlesnakes called "Rattlesnake Rules" by Conrad J. Storad. This book is geared for children ages 4-8. The retail price of this book is $16.95 and is absolutely worth it. It is a hard back cover and is very colorful with great quality.

We live in the mountains and get rattlesnakes quite often. In fact, this summer we had one under the stairs heading up to our front door. My girls were very interested in the snake and did not show any fear, just curiosity. Of course, I couldn't even look at it. It gave me the chills every time I heard it rattle.

This book couldn't have arrived at a better time. It's a story about a rattlesnake mommy with her babies teaching them how to be rattlesnakes. She teaches them how to hunt for food, how to eat the food when they get it and when and how to shake their rattles. It was so cute when we reached a part where one of the baby snakes was startled by its own rattle. The rules also teach humans to beware when they come across a rattlesnake. The back section of the book includes a curriculum guide to help the children better understand the rattlesnakes.

Here is a picture of my little 4yr old girls looking through the book:
